Overview
Problem
In the Purdue Fashion & Retail Organization's second year since being revived, the organization sought to expand its reach on campus and on social media to attract new members. However, without a clear creative vision and brand identity, potential for growth was limited.
As a new member of the organization's 2025-2026 executive board—assistant creative director and head of graphic design—my goal was to use graphic design to improve the organization's outreach and marketing capabilities.
Task
Establish a bold, consistent, and memorable visual identity to bolster the organization's presence online and around campus.
Outcome
With collaborative efforts and feedback from the executive board, I established a striking visual identity for the organization. For each event we held, I designed a poster to be shared on Instagram and to be pinned to bulletin boards around campus.
By having a distinct and recognizable style, the organization attracted more attention from students, contributing to significant membership growth. Over the academic year, the Purdue Fashion & Retail Organization gained ~1,200 new Instagram followers and saw hundreds of attendees at its biggest events.

Design Strategy
Bulletin boards are the primary channel by which clubs advertise around campus. Because of the shared space these boards provide, the Fashion & Retail Organization's posters competed with other clubs for students' attention. Therefore, I decided to use bold colors to draw more eyes to our events. Color choice varied from poster to poster to help differentiate events, as well as to represent the diversity of people and styles of self-expression found in fashion spaces.
While the colors changed frequently, a level of consistency and recognizability was achieved through typography. By using similar fonts and layouts across all posters, our advertisements could be recognized at a glance.
Finally, I always blurred and texturized the images I used in my designs. The fuzziness of the subjects and background, combined with the vibrant colors, evoke a sense of nostalgia and wonder—a strong motivator for potential attendees.
